What kind of cultural patterns encourage child marriage and abuse?

I believe that religion can encourage child marriage along with abuse. For example, in the muslim religion they are usually are sold at a young age to their husbands family. Being a women in that religion is like being a slave. If ndont do what you are asked to do you will get beaten.
